We’re Back!
And settling in to our daily Santa Fe life, after a chaotic month that began when my Aunt Lucy became a centenarian by turning 100 years old. We flew to her birthday celebration in San Juan Capistrano and celebrated with dozens of family members.
The next afternoon, while we were waiting at LAX for our flight to New Mexico, we received news that Grace had escaped from her sitter and had gone missing in the Glorietta wilderness, a remote area inhabited by bears and mountain lions. Twenty-four harrowing hours later, we found Grace and got her back in the most unexpected way.
Still reeling from our adventure, a handful of days later, Ken, Grace and I drove to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, averting tornados and storms along the way.
From experiencing the heights of a milestone celebration to feeling a gut-wrenching stomach punch when we thought we had lost our beloved dog, and embarking on a once in a lifetime journey of four thousand miles, May, 2024 will forever etch itself in our minds.
How was your May?
Stay healthy & stay pawsitive,
Carlyn MDO
P.S. I’d love to hear from you. So don’t be shy, leave a comment. How about sharing one special moment you experienced with an animal friend this month? I’d love to know.

Synchronicity is fascinating. We were in Vibe, a fabulous vegan restaurant in Dana Point, California, when I stumbled upon this book. I love vegan Japanese food but I didn’t buy the book. I didn’t have to. A week later, our amazing trusted house sitters, Jun and Daye, bought it for us as a thank you for letting them stay in our home. What a treat!

Question I’ve been Pondering
Why is it we say we love animals yet still eat them?
Carlyn in the Media
Watch my interview on A Warrior’s Spirit with host Daryl Snow! A Warrior’s Spirit is a weekly vodcast where inner warriors shine in their light. I’m grateful Daryl feels I shine but shining is a community endeavor. I’m super grateful that I have a great family, wonderful friends, and a fabulous rescue dog, like Grace Fischer.
What Grace and I Are Watching
I love all things Scotland. So you may not be surprised, that while we traveled to the Outer Banks, NC, Grace and I binged the series, Outlander. If you talk to me, and notice a Scottish brogue, you now know why!
What I’m Grateful For
That Grace came home!

On a beautiful day in May How wonderful that by chance walking up a hill towards the Wright Brothers Memorial at the Outer Banks North Carolina. I see Grace ( I always notice the dogs first )
After our chat and meeting you, Ken and Grace which I admit I could have stayed there all day, I came away from our meeting feeling so upbeat, after listening to how you were able to locate and find Grace.
I have nearly finished your book Junkyard Girl and Wow! I believe it should be made into a film! Thank you Carlyn for sharing your life so far.
